A book hedgehog is a perfect craft to make if you've got an old book lying around and don't want to throw it away. This craft is easy to make and looks great when it's finished! This wikiHow will teach you how to make a book hedgehog.
-
1
Pick out a book. For this project, you are going to need a book. The thicker and longer the book is, the bigger your hedgehog will be. When finding a book, try to find an old copy of it that you know you won't read/have already read, so that you aren't wasting a perfectly good book. You could find one in a little free library.
- It does not matter if it is hardcover or paperback, just that the pages can still be folded. However, note that it may be easier if you use a hardcover book, because hardcovers have weight to them, and paperbacks don't have as much weight.
-
2
Fold out the covers. Now that you've picked out the book, you will need to fold the covers out all the way. Once you've done that, decide which side you want to start folding the pages on (either the front or the back).

Fold the page halfway. Fold the first page down to the spine. Be careful only to do one page and always double-check because pages sometimes get stuck together.
-
4
Fold the left corner. Now, fold the left corner all the way down to the spine. The page may start to come out, so don't pull it. If it does come out, that's okay, and you can tape it back or go onto the next page.
-
5
Fold the other corner. Now, fold the right corner, but not all the way down. Only fold it about halfway down.
- If you want to fold it down all the way, that's fine. It just looks a bit better halfway down.
-
6
Go to the next page. Now that you've done the first page, you need to go to the next page. Move the folded page and start on the next page. Repeat steps 2-5 and then turn to the next page and continue until completely done. Try to make the folds as even with the previous ones as you can, although if they are not even, that's fine.
- Sometimes, the folds won't be fully folded, so feel free to glue or tape it down if you want.
-
7
Cut the cover off. Now, cut or rip the sides of the cover off. Use scissors to cut around the pages.
- You don't have to do the entire cover page, but you can if you would like to.

Make the nose. You can make the hedgehog's nose with black construction paper, black felt pads, black Sharpies, black pom poms, or some black fabric. If you are using a black felt pad or fabric, be sure to use a glue stick or a hot glue gun so the nose doesn't fall off.
-
2
Make the eyes. Like the nose, you can make the eyes with black construction paper, felt pads, black pom poms, black Sharpie, or black fabric. Use a glue stick or hot glue gun to make sure they stick to your hedgehog's pages.
-
3
Add color. Use markers, crayons, colored pencils, colored construction paper, colored felt, or even fabric to add some color to your hedgehog. This step is optional, but it will make your hedgehog look great if you decide to add color.
-
4
Decorate your hedgehog. Find ideas for decorating your hedgehog online or in videos. There are many cute ideas for you to use and try out on your hedgehog. Try using colored paper or felt.
- If you have an upcoming holiday, consider decorating your hedgehog with those colors or make props for your hedgehog.
