How do these compare with Palette Hybrid Ink pads? By: mum28 (27-Sep-18) Helpful Question? Yes | No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!

Hi! I just received my Scrapbook.com hybrid ink pads today - I purchased the kit that has black and 3 grey tones; I also purchased the refills for this kit. I did a side-by-side test, using the new Scrapbook.com black hybrid ink pad and my freshly re-inked Palette Hybrid Noir Black ink pad.
I stamped a detailed log cabin and tree scene using each brand of ink on Cougar White cardstock and allowed the ink to air dry and compared the intensity of black ink. They looked virtually identical. (I will add that neither ink was as intensely black as Versafine Onyx Black, a pigment ink noted for it's unique blackness).
I tested these stamped images for bleeding using alcohol markers (Stampin Up Blends, Copics and Windsor Newton alcohols). Both brands performed beautifully, with absolutely no bleeding or blurring of the stamp lines. I then tested Derwent watercolor pencils and an aqua brush on the stamped images. Both brands survived this test as well, with no bleeding or blurring of the stamped lines. Conclusion: Both brands get good results when used with alcohol Inks and watercolors.
The shape of ink pad case is the same for both brands of hybrid ink, right down to the useful finger grips at the sides and how the lid snaps onto the back for handy storage when using. The refills for both brands are the same size and both have the same black caps. Palette Hybrid Inks are made by Stewart Superior. There is no named manufacturer on the Scrapbook.com hybrid pad - their name is the only one that appears on the back label. Both brands are made in the USA. Perhaps Stewart Superior entered into a proprietary agreement with Scrapbook.com to market this line of Inks with their name on them - who knows? Regardless of whether that is so, these new Scrapbook.com hybrid inkpads are DANDY! And the price point on them is dramatically lower than any other competing brands of this type of specialty ink pad. The added advantage is that reinkers are immediately available, also at a lower price than other brands. And Scrapbook.com has speedy shipping, so you don't have long wait times before you get to use the product.
This was probably WAY more than you were wanting to know, but I thought the detailed info might address questions that other shoppers might think of as they consider the qualities of these newly available hybrid Inks. How do the Scrapbook.com Premium Hybrid Ink Pads compare to the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks? Can you use them the same way and get the same results as the Distress Oxide Inks? Are the creamy and blendable? By: rcwinston (25-Sep-18) Helpful Question? Yes | No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
-
I don't own this product but I do have a hybrid ink and it's a different formulation than the Oxide inks. Oxide inks react with water and hybrid inks are waterproof and safe for alcohol markers. Both are great products but for different uses. By: Dania Boise (26-Sep-18) Helpful Answer? Yes | No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

Is there a preferred way to store these ink pads. I remember dye inks were supposed to be stored pad up and pigments inks were to be stored pad down. (Or vice versa LOL) What should I do to maintain these properly? By: Ginny McMinn (13-Apr-19) Helpful Question? Yes | No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!

Good question! Storage of the ink pads are a personal preference. The performance of the pad itself isn't affected either way. The biggest issue would be leaving the lid off of your ink pad for extended periods of time, which will dry your ink pads out much faster. I hope that helps. Do these hybrid inks dry quickly? Can they be used with embossing powder? By: 49erfan (26-Sep-18) Helpful Question? Yes | No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!

"Hybrid inks have a fast drying time, they are not recommended for heat embossing." This statement is on the description of each of the individual ink colors, so no, no embossing powder use! I love mine! By: menardkd (18-Oct-18) Helpful Answer? Yes | No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

They do dry rather quickly. I colored with alcohol markers and watercolor markers - no problem. I haven't tried them with embossing powder. By: Sophia58 (28-Sep-18) Helpful Answer? Yes | No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

Do they bleed through Bible paper? I use stamping in Bible journaling art and would love to use this ink there! them there. Maybe just stamp the first impression off and use the second?? By: peacock1 (07-Jun-20) Helpful Question? Yes | No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
-
Bible paper can sometimes be very thin and transparent. If so, I would suggest using the second stamp impression on thin paper. By: Scrapbook.com (16-Jul-20) Helpful Answer? Yes | No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

Can these be used on glossy photos? By: SmithAaronA (19-Apr-20) Helpful Question? Yes | No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!

You could use these on a photo however, you would need to let it completely dry. StazOn brand might be a better solution for glossy/non porous stamping. By: Scrapbook.com (20-Apr-20) Helpful Answer? Yes | No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

Can these ink pads be used like the old cat eyes for distressing paper for scrapbooking or is it just for stamping? By: Breezyd15 (26-Nov-19) Helpful Question? Yes | No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
-
I think so but I haven't done anything with it yet. I did purchase it for distressing the paper so I do hope that works. I'm big into scrapbooking but I'm just beginning to purchase some stamps to use with my scrapbooking. Have not used them yet. I wish you the best with this. How do you clean your stamps after using hybrid inks? By: rcjciverso (01-Jan-19) Helpful Question? Yes | No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!

I use Ranger Inkssentials stamp cleaning spray and Lawn Fawn's Stamp Shammy. Both do a great job, although there will be some inks (especially in red and black colors) that will simply stain the stamp no matter what and there's no cleaning it off (I think these have pigment ink?). I clean these stamps with the products I mentioned so that when I change ink color, no residual ink is left even though it looks red or black (or both!). Side note: the Stamp Shammy works better than paper towels because it doesn't tear or leave "paper dust" on the stamp, and the Inkssentials spray smells yummy though it does not leave a heavy odor while being a pretty safe, harmless solution. I am currently replacing all of my ink pads with the scrapbook hybrid pads and I love them.
I am storing my pads in Crafter's Companion Ink Pad Storage Trays and they've held everything from Stampin Up pads to Fun Stampers Journey stamps and they are now holding some Distress Ink Pads and Scrapbook.com hybrid ink pads. Laying down on their sides, I cannot make out the label colors.
So my question is, how are the rest of you marking the ink pads with what colors are in them when they are stored? By: scramblinrosie (30-Oct-18) Helpful Question? Yes | No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!-
I havnt received mine yet, but watched a you tube video yesterday , and that person typed the ink names on a strip of cardstock and then inked each strip with the ink from the pad...i would probably use a sponge dauber and feather it out so you could see the ombré look of each ink pad. This person cut each in a narrow strip and glued to the edge of each pad, so it could be seen when stacked or on it's side~Hope that helps you~ By: JMarch (01-Nov-18) Helpful Answer?
